Lazutkina E. A., Gonokhova M.N., Chernaya L.V. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT A MEDICAL UNIVERSITYForeign students face a number of problems related to arrival and long-term stay, living in new conditions, often in rather harsh climatic conditions, lack of familiar food and the need to cook for themselves. Of course, the educational process is complicated by differences in the ethnic culture in the study group; different levels of basic training of foreign students in general education subjects; different levels of proficiency in the intermediary language - English, which is used to teach foreign students; the presence of psychological and social barriers in the process of adaptation to the educational environment of a medical university. The above reasons, undoubtedly, complicate the formation of professional skills in future doctors. Students, foreign citizens, take an active part in the extracurricular activities of the medical university. Extracurricular activities are offered by individual departments to speed up the process of adaptation of foreign students in the educational environment of a Russian university. The Department of Biology is one of the first to directly work with foreign first-year students and plays an important role in the formation of basic knowledge of students. The set of events held by the department staff is aimed at the fastest possible inclusion of students in the educational process. At the same time, the biology department places emphasis on extracurricular activities, which are an integral part of the curriculum and help to immerse oneself in biological science in an informal setting, better understand the subject, and also get acquainted with the culture and history of the university and the department. Key words: international students, extracurricular activities, adaptation.
