SPECIFICITY OF RESEARCH ACTIVITIES OF FUTURE GRAPHIC DESIGNERS IN THE DESIGN OF MUSEUM SOUVENIRS [№ 1 ' 2026]
Innovation is a key value in design education. In practice, educational projects are often generic, situational, and fragmented, without exploring holistic stylistics and audience demands, traditional cultural heritage, and contemporary visual language. There is a pressing need for a systematic approach to student research to achieve a high degree of project originality. This study draws on the authors' experience conducting research with future graphic designers at Orenburg State University, focusing on the design of museum souvenirs, taking into account a cultural and ecological approach to design. The pre-project research focuses on how museums, through the lens of design, convey their core values, adapt complex cultural heritage to the contemporary context, and build a strong emotional connection with visitors, transforming them from one-time visitors into loyal users. Historical analysis has shown that the evolution of museum souvenir design has evolved from singular sacred objects to its current state, where souvenirs become a key element of cultural branding. A comparative analysis of design codes from leading international and Russian museums of various specialties allowed us not only to identify the unique features of museum souvenir lines but also to identify common current trends in this dynamic field. The study theoretically substantiated that students' pre-project research contributes to the innovative, creative nature of projects. A sequence of pre-project research stages for future graphic designers was developed and the content of these stages was revealed. The key visual components of museum souvenirs, which shape their artistic image and functionality, were identified and analyzed. These components include color palettes, graphic and typographic features, compositional solutions, choice of materials and technologies, and ergonomic qualities. This will allow us to develop a graphic language for modern museum souvenirs in the form of coherent identity systems and design codes.

METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF TRADEMARK DESIGN IN CONTINUOUS DESIGN EDUCATION [№ 4 ' 2023]
A modern trademark, being the main element of corporate identity and participating in advertising processes, must have a number of qualities that ensure its high functionality. In this regard, there is a growing demand for training specialists with professionalism in trademark design.
Deep knowledge of the principles of trademark design is required, the achievement of which becomes possible as a result of inclusion in the process of continuous design education of mastering the development of sign forms.
The article discusses the current methodological aspects of the development of modern iconic forms in the context of continuous design education, which contributes to the successful solution of the designated problem. The high importance of the “cultural-ecological approach in trademark design”, “bionic approach in trademark design”, “collage design method” in trademark design is substantiated. The methodological foundations of the design of iconic forms and trademarks in the system of continuous design education – additional and higher – have been developed.
The sequence of trademark development in the learning process has been compiled.
The most significant technologies for finding creative solutions in the design of iconic forms have been selected. In the process of sketching at the stage of concept formation, brainstorming of various types, drawing up a brief and a mudboard, meaning formation in the form of associative mapping, “methods for eliminating deadlocks” are most effective.
The most effective ways of depicting iconic forms have been identified, allowing for an optimal ratio of their figurativeness and informativeness in order to achieve their maximum expressiveness – “fitting into geometric shapes”, “fragmentation”, “overlapping”.
