ABOUT THE QUALITY OF ROAMING MOBILE DEVICES IN ENTERPRISE WIRELESS NETWORKSThis paper presents practical research of handoff between the access points on a link layer with detail description of delays in various components. The research has showed that different procedures at an access level contribute to the overall handoff delay, which negatively affects the quality of service (QoS) in many applications such as IP telephony. Also we show the significant change of delay with handoff from one access point to another especially if different manufacturers made access points.Key words: IEEE 802.11, handoff, performance, probe, association, authentication, delay.
