The article describes statistic characteristics of adjective use in V.M.Shoukshin’s stories. Quantity analysis of adjectives’ functioning in extracts-fragments and extracts presenting entire stories of the author point to the low frequency of use of the above mentioned parts of speech in comparison with other word classes. This fact does not witness scarcity of the author’s prose language, but reflects his style close to colloquial.
