ESSENCE OF SOCIAL PRESTIGIOUSNESS PHENOMENON ^{[№ 10 ' 2006]}
The essence of social prestigiousness phenomenon is regarded in this article from philosophical-theoretical and culturological positions. Comparative analysis of views on these complicated social-cultural phenomenon of Russian and foreign researchers is given here and different approaches to it are regarded. Genesis of social prestigiousness is researched, specific peculiarities of social prestigiousness in Russia are revealed and determination of its essence, general functions and criteria is formed in this work.
