The article deals with existing special points of view giving by different scientists on the problem of the definition of the notion "strategy". The notion "strategy" is the central one in the theory of management. The developed analysis allows to conclude that the notion "strategy" is being considered in statics as well as in dynamics. The author offers to determine strategy as a common trend of actions which gives a perspective development of the enterprise to achieve competing advantages taking into consideration favourable possibilities and dangers of external environment, its own advantages and disadvantages.
